Penmaenmawr is a centre for many other activities.
Close at hand is the Sychnant Pass – the old road over to Conway – with its many spectacular walks. There is a recently opened cycle path along the coast from Conway Marina, past Penmaenmawr and into Llanfairfechan, or mountain bike enthusiasts can take to the steeper slopes. There are riding stables nearby to trek on the hills. Nearby are the beautiful Aber Falls – a mile walk from the car park in Abergwyngreygn on wheelchair-friendly track.
Behind the town, inland, is the great expanse of the Snowdonia National Park, a centre for serious climbers as well as those who prefer to get to the top of Britain’s second highest mountain on the Snowdon mountain railway.
